oGOLOI CAREPOINT
Orphans of Teso was founded in 2011 when we partnered with the charming rural village of Ogoloi located a short 20 minute drive outside of Soroti in the Teso Region of Uganda. When we started Ogoloi had 120 children who needed a sponsor and that seemed like a manageable number for our community to start with. The people were so welcoming and loving and embraced us as family from the first time we stepped into their village!
Tailoring Program
Ogoloi has a thriving tailoring school that trains students in our sponsorship program and pulls in youth from the community who have dropped out of school providing them with skills to provide for themselves
Carpentry School
They also have a carpentry school that teaches young men to build beds, chairs and tables to make a living for themselves.
Pig Rearing
Each household in our program was given a female pig. The first litter from each pig was returned to the CarePoint to bless another family and snowball the impact. Because of this project families are now able to pay school fees for their children that are not in our sponsorship program and provide other daily necessities for their families.
Why Ogoloi?
Ogoloi suffered from the insurgency that hit the Teso region in the 1980s and the LRA incursions of 2003, causing destruction of lives, property, and livelihood. As a result, Ogoloi has a large number of child-headed households, school dropouts, and individuals who struggle with abusing alcohol.
The consequences have been food shortages, low levels of education, domestic violence, and the spread of HIV/AIDS. The local community schools struggle to provide the children with a good education and most children are not able to advance beyond primary school because parents cannot afford the fees. Boys are prioritized with the opportunity for education which results in early marriages, child labor, and large numbers of school dropouts.

EMPOWER A CHILD IN OGOLOI
Empowering a child is one of the most personal ways that you can make an impact on global poverty. It is more than providing for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. When you sponsor a child, you build a relationship that shows that child they are valuable, worth loving, and worth investing in.
Your sponsorship is the starting point of a journey that equips vulnerable children, their families, and their communities to create sustainable transformation. When you sponsor a child with HopeChest, you are not just supporting one child — you are helping transform entire communities.
Ongoing Learning & Education
As children at the CarePoint grow older, the cost of their education increases. Sponsorship funds alone are not able to cover 100% of the cost of school fees and materials/supplies. Education Funds supplement the cost of secondary and vocational education for older children at the CarePoint.

Get Involved
We believe in the idea of doing more for the people around us and that principle makes us who we are today. We believe in using our resources and abilities to impact and improve the lives of others, not just in our local communities but in the global community as well.
