I know you are all waiting to hear an update from the team who spent the day today in Ongongoja and…….. so am I!!  Unfortunately Ongongoja is pretty remote and they have no internet access so we haven’t been able to get any pictures or any updates yet but I thought I’d fill you in on what I DO know about the new CarePoint.

First of all here, is a blog with the background of Ongongoja   if you have never read it.

The Children’s Hope Chest staff and local leaders determined which 150 children were the most needy and vulnerable and created a profile for each of those children.  We received those profiles in November and have been working to find sponsors for them the last few months.  So far we have found sponsors for 48 of the children so 102 still need to find someone who is willing to sacrifice $38 a month to provide them with daily food, schooling, medical care, and discipleship.  If you are interested in sponsoring a child here is a list of the children who still need a sponsor.  Once these children are all sponsored there are 600 more orphans still waiting to get into the program so we’d love to get these sponsored as quickly as we can.

Because of all of YOUR generous donations through Change Their Story we were able to raise $21,000 to get the CarePoint started.  We will hear more from the team how this money will be used but we can not say THANK YOU enough to everyone who donated.  This money will go a long way in getting the CarePoint up and running.  They will be able to do a health clinic and get each child checked out, diagnosed and treated soon,  the kids will be able to get a Hep B shot, start eating and hopefully start going to school!

Hopefully in the next day or two we will have pictures and more updates to share!  But for now, if you or anyone you know may be interested in sponsoring a child check out the list and pass it on to everyone you know!

Here are a few pictures of kids who are still waiting for a sponsor!
